The Project for Advancing Healthcare Stewardship Presents:

2023 & 2024 Forums - Radical Hope

COVID-19 has shined a bright light on and escalated many systemic healthcare challenges. The Project for Advancing Healthcare Stewardship (PAHS) is dedicated to illuminating and transforming these challenges, while helping people become better stewards of the healthcare system and of their own health.

Join us for “Radical Hope,” a free public forum series designed to help us explore and understand our own health stories and how these stories intersect with the American healthcare system. Can you imagine building a better bridge between the two? Our forums seek to help us reclaim and amplify our agency as we navigate our health and the healthcare system.

In these six monthly forums, held June – November, deep listening and profound empathy serve as our primary tools. We will explore the role of narrative in helping us to navigate our own health and healthcare in a system that often overwhelms us, and examine what it means to lean into the radical hope even within chaos in order to imagine health and healthcare possibilities currently beyond our field of vision. Our long-term aim is to clarify our roles, individually and collectively, in stewarding a better, more equitable and sustainable healthcare system. Through illuminating our experiences of helplessness, loss, illness, wellness, caretaking, injustice, and activism in relation to the experiences of others, we can deepen our perspective and begin to light a path forward.

2023 forums have passed and we cannot thank you to all of those who participated and came! However we have added ONE MORE forum, apart of this same series, for April 16th, 2024!

We will meet virtually from 6pm to 8pm CST in small group settings via Zoom, using narrative medicine techniques (close examination of a short literary reading + a writing exercise, sharing & discussion) to catalyze epiphany and understanding.  Forums are FREE and require no advance preparation (readings are presented during the forum and discussions are thoughtfully facilitated). For a better sense of what our forums are like, click here. Forums fill quickly, and we will accept participants on a first-come, first-served basis and are prioritizing diversity—BIPOC and LGBTQIA .+ writers are highly encouraged to inquire!

We value your participation and look forward to visioning with you!
